This book is a collection of testimonies from eyewitnesses, representatives of different eras: envoys, diplomatic mission staff, officers, merchants — about the country now called Russia. Interestingly, Russian censorship did not want such testimonies. Russian translations were sometimes deliberately distorted by translators, and some notable works, excerpts of which are presented here, were never published in Russian — ultimately, nor in Ukrainian either. The book will be useful for military personnel, diplomats, businessmen, as well as anyone who wants (or does not want) to deal with Russia.
